JAZZY J IS IN OZ

GIDDAY MATE

Seems to be the official greeting in Good Ol' Ozzi Ozzi Ozzi ... Oi Oi Oi. This is the first time in seven years that I have lived in a country where English is the official language. Suddenly I'm not having to break into crazed body movements while asking for those items that you can't quite explain. The music scene was great in Syndey - and there were many talented musicians I was able to see and great opportunities to play at open mic nights. I'm looking forward to cruising back there. As always though - I followed the sun and have just touched down in the Sunny Gold Coast. This place when compared with Sydney seems like a completely different country - with its wide roads, spacious living - FREE car parking in most places and weather that isn't confused that Summer means Sun - I can see why people love it up here. I'm off to check out the local scene in Surfers Paradise tomorrow night - so shall have full updates soon.

The hat that never fails …

Posted on August 8, 2011 by jazzyj

When u add the two together you get Don’t do that old lady. Now in New Zealand I wouldn’t find the need to write a song that tells the eldery what not to do. However in Korea – the women in the older age bracket really seem to embrace life – so much that if you are in a line or their way of the bus – they’ll shove you out of it. I found this very humorous on many occasions and channeled my bruised ego into the form of a song.

The Korean ‘Ahjumas’ also dislike the sun, so wear some amazing hats to keep the sun off their face. This hat can be sold at all good dollar or ‘Won’ stores, and for the slightly more bling ones – there are many high fashion shops that will help you get the perfect look.

The Ahjuma hat has become a fond part of my show now – and it always amazes me that even with the most gentle, quiet person – once the ahjuma hat is fastened on the head and the Jazzy J song starts, there is no controlling what moves may come out.

So thankyou Ahjumas and your Hats! – every time I play Ha Je Ma Ah Ju Ma – I remember the great randomness and fun of Korea - along with our body language / crazy arm chats :)

Here is a little of the song being played live in Seoul … Enjoy!
